I bought one two years ago, it worked ok for year and half but after that It didn't work. I changed the spark plug and the fuel lines but still did not work. I bought another one last month out of emergency. This time after use it for second time it did not work. Both times I used it for less than an hour. I should know better that this brand makes cheap junk tools. don't waste your money on this brand. superior product 11 Oct 20
having used a Ryobi Battery powered trimmer, I needed something that would last longer and handle my outdoor activities as well. Being a hunter I needed more time with my trimmer, without worring about my battery dying. great product. I even bought the chain saw attachment. String feeder head melted off metal hex nut on second use. No help in fixing it, ignored. Well balanced 10 Oct 20
Overall, this trimmer is well balanced. The power is phenomenal and relatively quiet compared to others I have seen in use. Loading new string is easy and hassle free since the lengths are pre-cut. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works Great! 8 Oct 20
This works amazing! I bought it a bit over a month ago and its easy to start its light and has more than enough power. The other thing is that its super easy to put more string on it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used it once now will not crank... 7 Oct 20

Bought this at the beginning of summer because my 4 cycle broke last year. I love this trimmer. It seems to have basically the same power as my old 4 cycle but is much lighter and easier to maneuver. I definately recommend it to anyone who wants an easy to use trimmer! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do Not Buy! 29 Sep 20
I had this trimmer two months. I used this trimmer one time in a small yard. I tried using it a second time and it would not crank. I took it to a shop for repair service and they said it was the spark plug. Said it was not covered under and charged me $40 for checking it out. (They didn't even put a spark plug in it. That would cost more.) Why would a two month old trimmer need a spark plug? My mower lasts for years on a spark plug. Ryobi customer service was terrible. Very disappointing. I want buy Ryobi again. works great 28 Sep 20

Bought this trimmer at my local HD. It's quite nice and easy to use, but it's main feature is also it's biggest flaw: the "Reel Easy" system.Instead of taking apart the head, you feed the line from the outside and use a crank to wind it into the head. They even tell you to avoid opening the head. Problem is, if you hit a fence or thick brush and your lines break at the head, it's very difficult to open the head and fix this.Other than that, it has perfomed well in this jungle weather. expandable attachements 23 Sep 20
I bought this 1 week ago. I haven't used it yet. But if it works as well as my older Ryobi Trimmers I will be greatly satisfied [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Changeable heads 14 Sep 20

This is the best trimmer I used. Compared to a trimmer that you would get at Lowe’s, this is a better trimmer and brand. I trust a Ryobi brand then a Craftsman brand. Because every time I used a Craftsman brand the equipment would not start. I had to Ryobi product and to start the product it is easy. First pull all it takes.Ryobi you did a great job. 2 cycle trimmer 13 Sep 20

In the last month I have purchased three trimmers with not so good success. The first would not start out of the box. The second the spool feel off the shaft 1-hour into trimming. I am now on my 3rd trimmer keeping my fingers crosssed. Find trimmer very hard to pull to start. If this third one fails I will return andmove on to a different brand. 3 strikes your out rule [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The gateway tool 8 Sep 20
I wanted an edger. Got this trimmer system so that I could get the edger. Then I got the blower. Next up is the tiller. All are very time-saving compared to the corded trimmer and blower I used to use. It was frustrating at first because the line kept getting stuck. After going through the line that came installed in the trimmer and loading my own (which was way easier than my old one!), I have not run into that problem again. This is my second Ryobi 2 cycle string trimmer. The first is about six years old and has performed great with absolute minimal maintenance. I even left it outside exposed to the elements for several months. Didn’t seem to affect it at all. I bought a new one to “retire” the first to lighter use. The attachments are well engineered to the head unit’s power. They all work as you would expect. I’m a fan. I have several Ryobi tools. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Light weight and easy to control for my usage! 7 Sep 20
Light weight and easy to control for my usage! Buyer Beware!! 6 Sep 20
I bought this several months ago. It has been nothing but a frustration. Mostly because the string will not advance. Requires you to constaintly remove the entire string housing to rewind. Makes 5 minute job take a half hour. Never again. Plenty of power 6 Sep 20
I bought this trimmer on Saturday with the brush cutting attachment. I can actually see my house foundation. I can’t wait to get into the backyard to eat up more brush.the trimmer worked well also. Changing of attachments was very easy. This is my first Ryobi tool,l will be buying more. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Durable and Versitile 6 Sep 20
This is my third Ryobi trimmer in the expand-it line. The last power head I purchased has lasted me over 4 years. I have a bigger than 1/2 acre yard and there is almost 100' of fence line to trim and 50' of sidewalk and driveway to edge every weekend. I also have the attachments for the blower and the tiller, so this unit gets a workout. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good for a season 5 Sep 20
Bought this trimmer at HD and it worked great for one season using it about once every 2 weeks. Beginning of second season it worked good maybe twice. Then it lost power and shut don and will not start. When pulling the starter rope id doesn't feel like there is any compression. Need a new trimmer but I think I will try another brand. Had an old toro that finished out this season but it isn't attachment capable, the reason I bought the RYOBI to start with. Just what I needed to complete my yard work at my home. 2 Sep 20
Just what I needed to complete my yard work at my home. good value 2 Sep 20
This trimmer replaced a 10 year old craftsman unit. Startup is a bit more involved than my old unit as it requires 3 separate steps. Once you get used to the procedures, it's fairly easy. The trimmer has plenty of power, it idles smoothly, and my favorite feature is the easy string reload process. Long term reliability is unknown as I've had this for only 2 months but so far I am very pleased. worked for a few months 2 Sep 20

Had the four stroke, straight shaft string trimmer previously, this one, I got with the curved trimmer, and is a little lighter. Works as advertised, highly recommend ryobi products. Both string trimmer heads are easy to load, startup and use is a breeze! Better 28 Aug 20
I purchased this Ryobi curved shaft 2 cycle weed eater today soon as I got home I got it out put it together put gas in it it cranked on my third try which is expected since it's brand new I love it it's comfortable smooth and I'm going to even more enjoy weed eating [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Disappointed 28 Aug 20
It ran fine the first couple of times. Now, when it's in the run position it will only spin up if you put minimal pressure on the throttle. You should be able to squeeze the throttle down completely and get the maximum string speed out of it and get a lower speed as you let off the throttle. I've only used this string trimmer once but so far I like it very much. After putting fresh gasol... 25 Aug 20
I've only used this string trimmer once but so far I like it very much. After putting fresh gasoline/oil mixture in thetank, it started easily and ran very well. This is my first gasoline powered string trimmer because I usually don't like2 cycle engines. I have a four year old Ryobi 40v straight shaft string trimmer and when the battery would not take acharge I was forced to either buy another battery which cost the same as this string trimmer if not more or get a 2 cycle trimmer.I elected to get this model hoping that the engine will last longer than the 40v battery. I have two 2 cycle chain sawsthat are over 9 years old so this is why I made this decision. By the way I recommend getting the neck strap attachment that is sold at Home Depot. It takes the stress off of my arm when I'm wacking weeds. The trimmer is not real heavy but when you have to wack down weeds for over an hour it can become heavy. Can’t start it 24 Aug 20
Used this trimmer for 10 minutes. Shut it off to move some wood and I haven’t been able to restart it. I have tried multiple days. I am starting a business and need a reliable trimmer. Not sure if I will replace it with another Ryobi or another brand. I do like the attachment feature. Junk 10 Aug 20
Had hitachi for 15 years, this didnt last last 2x! Doesn't bump. Line keeps breaking and must re-do entire thing just for the string to work. HATE IT! Going BACK today! My First abig Job 1 Aug 20
I bought my trimmer about a week ago , I had a big job an a saw how Ryobi also had attachments which was awesome , but anyways I had to go cut this yard that look like a jungle no way it should’ve been like that , but when I got my ryobi to work it got the job done Great Trimmer 20 Jul 20
This is my third Ryobi trimmer in about 25 years. This new model is improved in every respect as far as I can tell so far. I have all the attachments and use most of them regularly. I use the trimmer before mowing and the curved-shaft blower (old style) to clean up. I use the hedge trimmer and chain saw 'pruner' along with the edger. So as you can see I'm using this implement an hour or more every week except for January and February which is why I wear them out over ten years or so. And even with the old-style single-bearing engine, the power head never wore out on any of them. Usually its the carburetor, clutch or drive cable. I have to admit mostly I just wanted a new one. :) But, its true that there are many improvements, like starting easily, a great new way of re-loading the trimmer line and important improvements to the arrangement and quality of the fuel lines. I have given away my previous two trimmers and as far as I know they are still in use. At the price, you really can't afford to take one of them to the shop because if you've used it for a few years you may as well get a new one. I guess it costs me maybe $10-$15 a year to have a new one every so often. good overall but bump head not durable 16 Jul 20
Pro: Starts easily, works fine with edger attachment. Con: Bump head isn't durable and wore out quickly. Needs to be replaced in less than 6 months. Never was easy to use the tool to feed new line in - easier to take it apart and turn from the bottom. I e-mailed about this and received no reply. Super Frustrating to adjust the Carburetor 10 Jul 20
Only 2 years old and it now dies when I throttle higher, but idles fine. The fuel lines had degraded so I replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, primer bulb, spark plug, air filter. I even installed a new carburetor. Still it dies when trying to accelerate. Supposedly there's a way to adjust the high side of the old carburetor (that I will have to reinstall now) with an obscure small size pacman head screwdriver. They come in a kit for $15+ online. Ryobi manuals offer no help on this. I'm out about $50 in parts now and still have a non-functioning trimmer and 4 weeks of weeds. Reel Easy trimmer head is junk 6 Jul 20
This is a tough review because the trimmer itself is a great reliable trimmer, this is my second one. However, the new reel easy trimmer head is absolute junk. During first use out of the box, the reel easy trimmer head basically exploded. Plastic head cracked and entire thing went flying into the tall grass. Only bumped it 3 times to advance the line and then gone. Wasn't even bumped on pavement, just grass. All that remained was the base attached to the trimmer shaft. If you buy this trimmer, I recommend buying a replacement head along with it or you'll be making another trip to the store very soon. Never even got a chance to use the cool feature of easy line loading. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bad product 3 Jun 20
This product has some obvious design flaw.I had the same experience as other negative posts. The trimmer started to wobble and the grass deflector and trimmer head fell off. Some type of plastic bushing melted. I contacted Ryobi and got no response. Happy with this, very similar to an old Sears that ran forever 29 May 20
To start, I had a setback with the bump head, *See Q & A WasWhackingIt May 26 2020, but have since figured it out. This bump head is different than the ones described in the answers, there are not 2 tabs. I had to hold the shaft and unscrew the head then I had to push in the green bump enough to release tension on the spool so it would unlock. But now I know and it is working good. I like this machine so far, I just sold a Stihl FS40 that ran excellently but I could not stand the bump feed on it and had two different heads but both were not very efficient but were real frustrating and a waste of time. I just want to wack the weeds. This machine is very similar to a Sears weed eater that was my favorite and it lasted for many years, original spark plug, filter and it just went and went. This whacker seems pretty steady, it will be fine for what I use it for. Product has good points and bad points 27 May 20
The engine on this trimmer starts very well, has sufficient power and is reliable. The trimmer head is another story, however. I read a number of reviews prior to my purchase from users who stated the trim head and advancing the trim line was problematic. I figured I would have better luck than they did. I figured wrong. Avoid this product!!! 26 May 20
I received this as a gift for Father’s Day. Unfortunately, while using it one day, the housing started to wobble and flew off. Upon further inspection, I saw that the plastic had melted. At the time of this writing, the last reviewer posted they had the same problem. Figuring this is a issue, I contacted Ryobi and they directed me to the nearest service location (25 minutes away). To keep this short, I’ve basically spent a little over 3 1/2 hours on the phone over the course of 4 phone calls in two days for a piece of equipment with an obvious issue for a trimmer that has been used 6 times. All to be told that I have to buy the lower attachment. The trimmer is low quality and the entire customer service experience has been awful as well. I want to like Ryobi and their products because for the price and amount of times I would use their tools, they seem like a good deal, but obviously not. I completely understand if people still buy their products but after this experience, I would not recommend it. Easy Start, E10 gasoline, and accessories. 20 May 20
So happy. I bought this a last week after being fed up rebuilding carbs on my other trimmers, pulling the starters till my fingers blistered, and my shoulder was sore. So nice to prime, pull, and go. I always but high test gas for my lawn and garden equipment to avoid the methanol fuels. I find most equipment is not designed to survive any alcohol in the fuel as it deteriorates the carburetor diaphragms and other plastic parts. Nice to see this equipment is designed to work with up to 10% alcohol. I will still run premium gas, but as it all comes out of the same hose you never know if you are getting some alcohol. One less thing to worry about. Now that I am comfortable that this is a good machine I am going back for some accessories. I can rid myself of my old tiller and buy attachments to do more without breaking the bank. Obviously the tiller for working the gardens, then adding the brush cutter and pole saw, and edger. With 2 1/2 acres of property to tame, these fast and easy attachments will make yard work quick and easy. Now I will be able to enjoy my property, not work on it. I bought the Ryobi 25cc 2 cycle curved shaft trimmer on May 4th. My wife used it to trim around our house on May 5th (about a 30-40 min job... .26 acre lot). Roughly half way into trimming, the grass deflector completely melted off the shaft. At that point, the head started to wobble and almost come loose while using, and it was running very rough (borderline smoking). I'm running TruFuel 50:1 and this is literally the first time using it. I have other Ryobi tools and love them...but this trimmer is garbage. Don't waste your time, money, or effort on this... Were sorry, but we do not honor product exchange requests. If you need to exchange an item received, you will need to go through the normal returns process identified in our returns section and then order the correct item, if it is still available. Orders are processed immediately and dispatched to fulfillment as soon as they are received. For this reason, we are typically unable to honor cancellation requests. If you need to cancel the transaction, please contact us as soon as possible and we will attempt to cancel the order. If the order has gone too far through the fulfillment process, we will be unable to cancel. In that event, you would need to wait until you receive the item and go through the normal returns process as mentioned in the returns section of our policies.
