Used this corded trimmer a handful of times with a 12/3 15 amp extension cord. Overall it does what i need for a house on a 1/4 acre. Not quite as powerful as my old Stihl trimmer, but the no need for gas makes things more maintenance free. Not near as loud as a gas trimmer, but still loud enough. Now three years later the gas trimmer has required much engineer repair to make it serviceable.While wait to have it repaired I have purchase this new Ryobi to trimming the yard. I prefer the corded as when trimming the yard I may find the need to trim a hedge, use my aged electric chain saw or aged electric leaf blower.I have thought about changing to battery driven but found I don't use the battery enough the justify the change. This is the best string trimmer that I've ever owned. I bought it specifically because of how easy it is to load the line. SUPER easy! It has more than enough power for my needs, and I've cut down some pretty heavy plants. It is very well balanced. For the price, this tool is pretty amazing! I don't need a gas trimmer, as I don't want the hassle of messing with fuel. I don't want a cordless trimmer because I don't want to have to purchase new batteries a few years down the road. I've got a 100' extension cord and I easily got the job done. Speaking of years down the line, I honestly expect this trimmer to be going at least 10 years from now. It feels that well built. This was $70.00 well spent. One more thing: The line that comes with this trimmer is fantastic. It lasts a very long time and I am pretty hard on this stuff. The trimmer is very easy to put together and I went from opening the box to using it less than 10 minutes. Because I have a small lawn area, 10' X 10', and my lawn mower broke, I used it to trim as well as mow the lawn. The lawn had overgrown but the 10 Amp Ryobi cut through it in short haste and didn't bog down. Very impressive! The electric motor is not overly heavy and after positioning the stabilizing handle for balance and control, it is perfect. It is well balanced. For what ever reason it didn't come with a sling which would have been nicer but not a game changer. After using this trimmer, I would not consider anything else unless there was a need for a gas or battery powered trimmer. I haven't had to replace the string but the instructions are simple enough with pictures and this function appears to be a simple operation. The string is showing to be as awesome as the trimmer in that I've virtually used the trimmer as a lawnmower and haven't had to feed any string out of the spool. I purchased this Ryobi to replace my 30+ year old straight shaft, Kawasaki powered string trimmer. It does the job that the old trimmer did and I no longer have to deal with the two cycle engine (although that Kawasaki engine was great for 30 years). Many people prefer the battery version so I had to order this corded unit shipped to my local store. That was a very good experience as well. The box was not even dented. I do not prefer the battery version because once the battery goes, the unit is worthless and the replacement batteries are expensive. I suspect this unit will work for a very long time and I am happy using a cord. I have never been one to mind having to use... 23 Sep 19
I have never been one to mind having to use and extension cord, so this tool has worked exceptionally. I have all the attachments for my ryobi and love them. Best product ever made.
