Many state barber regulations require clippers, trimmers, shavers, etc., to have a blade cover in place while not being used.
The manufacturers' cheap red plastic guards don't fit very well, fall off constantly, and don't offer much protection if you drop your clippers.
Polyurethane is flexible, which allows these blade protectors to flex for slight variations in blade geometry, finish and dimensions. It is also resistant to Barbicide, Cool Care spray, blade oil, and other barbershop chemicals.
I began designing these at my wife's request (also a barber), as a better solution than using spray can lids to cover her clippers.
These guards have saved my clipper blades at least twice now, once when I knocked over a clipper while it was standing in its charging base, and another time when I clumsily dropped my trimmers on the ground. No damage to either blade (whew...), which wasn't the case before I made these.
Blades are getting more expensive all the time, and shipping times and costs more expensive and slower. Better to protect the blades on the clippers you depend on day in and day out.
